Southern Stars is a Charitable Trust dedicated to providing a better life for special needs and less fortunate children in New Zealand. Our motto has always been “Helping Kids to be Kids”. This is achieved by providing fundraising resources for a host of children’s charities and by creating entertaining events for special needs & disadvantaged children; in particular K.I.S.S (Kids in Show Seats) pantomimes held at the Logan Campbell Theatre, ASB Showgrounds in Auckland.
Four times a year, Southern Stars Charitable Trust organises professionally run pantomimes as well as a number of other events to give special needs and disadvantaged children an opportunity to be kids. For each pantomime, over 12,000 tickets are sent out to local charities and schools. In 2015, over 50,000 tickets were distributed.
In addition, all the proceeds from the shows go to nominated children’s charities. Some of the charities that we are able to support through our programme include Autism New Zealand, Henderson RDA, Radio Lollipop, Koru Care NZ, Burn Support Group, New Zealand Down Syndrome Association and Kidney Kids.
